Frequently Asked WTFs

WTF: Does "No Social Media" mean Press Pause doesn't want me to share my published work?

On the contrary. We really really want you to share your published work! We are going to stay off the S.M, but if you want to share your work on your social medias, for sure, share a link! We want you to reach as many people as you can. Our view is: In the spirit of Press Pause, pause a bit before sharing on social media. Think about other more personal ways you can share. Remember that art exists without Twitter. :)

WTF: Does Press Pause have any ideas about how we can share our work, if not on social media?

Yes!

Word of mouth, text, email, gchat, Facetime, Skype, telepathy, cell phone, printed copies strewn about in the wind, landline phone, fax, telegraph, Morse code, Google translate, reading aloud in the middle of a party you crashed, open mic, poster size print outs pasted on bathroom stalls...

Did you find a cool way to share your work? Let us know at info@presspausepress.org and we'll add it to this growing list!

WTF: Is Press Pause going to get mad or unpublish me if I talk about it on social media?

Did Brad Pitt/Edward Norton kick anyone out of the Fight Club basement when more and more people started showing up and it became obvious that people were breaking the first two rules of Fight Club?

We won't be checking to see if you are sharing on social media because we don't have any social media to check with. There will be absolutely no love lost if you do share Press Pause work on social media, but remember that Press Pause itself will never have a social media account. We hope you understand our decision. There are no trolls in here and it is warm and quiet enough for us to lie down and rest. :)

WTF: What do you publish? Do I have to have publishing credits? Do I have to be a sought-after illustrious writer?

For more information on what we publish, check out our Submittable page and our Basic Tenets page, as well as our past volumes. We want to publish good stuff from everywhere and anyone. We don’t care if you’re an award-winner or if you’ve never published before.

WTF: What happens when my piece has been accepted?

One of our editors will reach out to you to say congratulations and let you know which volume you will be published in, along with the estimated volume release date. When it comes time to print and publish online, an editor will send you a copy-edited proof of your work to get your thumbs up.

If you are one of our featured artists ages 18 and under you will also need to have a guardian sign a permission form to allow us to publish your work.

All contributors receive two free copies of the volume in which they appear.

WTF: If I’ve been published in a volume of Press Pause already? can I submit again?

Yes! We regularly publish authors and artists more than once. We want Press Pause to feel like that fight club for art we keep talkin’ about. This is a living breathing community. Submit whenever your heart desires, even if you’ve been published by us already.

wtf: what if I’ve been published in press pause, but now I want to get involved?

That’s cool! We would love to have you get involved. When Press Pause was getting off the ground with Volume 1, SE Harsha was running a one-woman show. Some of those early contributors are now staff members at Press Pause. It’s fight club—once you’re in, you’re in, and we want you around in whatever role you’d like to play. Shoot us an email at info@presspausepress.org and let us know what you’re interested in doing.

WTF: How can I help keep Press Pause alive?

You can spread the word by telling all your artist buds or budding artists about us or by joining our poster campaign.

You can also donate to our magazine if you have spare cash. (We breathe sighs of relief when that happens. Printing is expensive).

And if you’re so inclined, get involved!

WTF: I want to keep in touch. Do you have a newsletter?

So glad you asked! Subscribe to our newsletter to say up to date with Press Pause happenings. Or contact us directly.

WTF: Do you love me?

So much.
