Putting the Keep in Keepsakes

You leave / but it doesn’t leave you / tax-included price tags are tinged with mauve ease / unshocked
outlets seem bland / lorries & roads have shrunk to look like they belong on a car rug playmat / &
words fall flat without their nasal 3Dness / differences are not circled and narrowed down to the hole
of bagel / they fill in the gaps / help you navigate between conceptions of ‘normal’ to something closer
to the truth / it’s also there on the wall / framed by a frothy fog of nostalgia / and embroidered
somewhere in you / not only in the mind / as an almost somatic strength too.
